Why I Love Homeschooling
Thoughts today on why I love homeschooling:
- It made it really easy to take Daddy to work and not worry about the girls getting to school. (Not that getting up that early was easy by any means!)
- I didn’t feel any guilt at all about walking around the mall or Target with them as we were in a place that actually had a mall and major shopping opportunities.
- Since we don’t often get out to major shopping opportunities, we used it as a lesson in pricing and how much things cost and how things cost more or less. Yes we can do this here at the house but it seemed to have little more of an impact there for some reason.
- I know I can make up for something tomorrow. We did three lessons in reading Monday that counts for today right?
Was it all easy? No. I’d be lying.
Eating out at a restaurant for the first time with three girls by myself ever. That in itself was a bit trying but, that was a especially trying when the TV at the restaurant kept showing scenes from the Boston Marathon even though it was a sports channel. The very thing I have been trying to avoid having to discuss until I could think more clearly on the reality of this horrible act was then being shoved in my girls faces and the questions began. Fortunately Miss C asked, God helped provide the answer, and she let it go. For now. I know there are more questions coming. Probably tomorrow morning at breakfast or at bedtime. That is just how her brain works.
“The desire to have it all” – on the part of certain children and my insane wish I could give them whatever they wanted. But the reality is, they don’t need it in most cases (toys), our house doesn’t need it (we need to downsize anyways in the toy department), and then need to learn to be content with what they have. Eventually we got it around. A book, a coloring book and a small activity book were what I did say yes to. I’ve already read the book aloud 3 times by bedtime, and remember there was a 2 hour drive in there!
We have a new curriculum sitting here waiting for me to open it. I’m so excited to open it up! Our All About Reading Level 2 and All About Spelling Level 1 arrived yesterday. The day was so busy that I didn’t even get the box opened. Tomorrow. With pictures. That is the goal. 🙂 Knowing the girls since the new curriculum is here they will be trying to do three more lessons in reading just so they can say they are done and ready to start the new one. 🙂
Well my dinner is done (the eating) my thoughts are down (here) and the little one is now crying (again…sigh). So I need to go to bed.
Night all.
