Shopping for Necessities
I realize that it is that time of year when everyone is inundated with buy this, sale!, don’t miss out! and all of the commercialism.
I posted on my personal Facebook page the other day,
Christmas Lists… A war of commercial desires
vs
needs & desires to learn
and it is so true. I was in the midst of trying to create Christmas lists to give to very well meaning family and friends. Kids who see the commercials and the instant “I want that!” that pops out of their mouths with something new and shiny. Now don’t worry I didn’t get all scroogey and not put any of those things on the lists.
But
I’m trying to be more mindful of what we ask for and what we want to give the kids so it is more than a one day okay I’m done and it gets forgotten and thrown out. Some things work great in that manner, don’t get me wrong. But I’d rather have things that they will engage with over the year, experiences, things that help them learn or are things that they have asked to learn over this last year.
Now if any family are reading this and think I’m scroogey, go ahead, give them what you wish. 🙂
But as I look at my overflowing email inbox it is hard to think okay let’s buy this, and this, and this…
Perhaps
Perhaps it is because I know I’m trying to stretch every dollar. Perhaps it is because I know we have money coming, we just don’t know how much or exactly with which paycheck with the contract that was approved. So I don’t really feel like I can plan.
But I’m almost always trying to figure out the best bang for my buck, whether it is toilet paper, a toy for the kids, or how I spend money on my ability to exercise.
Fit2B Isn’t Just for Me
{affiliate links below}
Fit2B is the one thing that is a non-negotiable in this time of year, along with our Prime Membership, because without it I would go insane.
The ability to exercise in my home, without a lot of special equipment, and only my internet connection is a godsend as the weather turns cold and ice starts coating my driveway like now.
Two years ago I locked in the Premium Membership which after the initial sign up period has me locked in for $99/year. I have access to all the courses, including the Fit2B Girls course (which we are using for homeschool health this year), the 5×5, so many that over the last few years I haven’t had the chance to complete. I don’t have to sign up special for the course, it is there so I can start it whenever I can fit it in.
Because it isn’t just for me, it is for my girls and even for my husband to work out with the more challenging workouts, it is soooo much easier to agree that this is one CyberSale that I need to keep going with. So I know I’ve talked about the Fit2B Membership before:
- Fit2B More than a Fitness Membership
- Fit2B Girls Course Review
- Quick Note on the 8th Anniversary of Fit2B
- Fit2B Gives Me Hope
But if you read these links, if you haven’t already, you know I’m not just promoting it for the possible affiliate bonus I get if you sign up through my link. I talk about Fit2B because I truly believe in it and the difference that it makes in my life.
I will continue to talk about it, even without one dollar from affiliate bonuses. But for now I’m hoping you’ll at least click through my links above and see why.
