One step forward
Sometimes homeschooling (okay LIFE) is one step forward and two steps back. Last week we had our two steps backward. So far this week we are managing to take a step forward.
Our new curriculum seems to be helping in this aspect. We’ve always done almost more a of an “unschool” approach however unintentionally on accomplishing our homeschooling in a week. Life has sometimes just been too much sometimes to try and push it any harder.
I’ve felt the need to change this.
So starting with last week, we’ve started to get a little bit more done each day. I’m trying to adjust to the time it takes to teach a lesson twice, once for each girl which is a struggle but what works best for Miss C and Miss L. I am noticing some rhythms to the day and even though I am not a morning person, they are. I will have to find a way to adjust so we can get our schooling done when they are fresh.
This week our step forward has started.
- I look forward to seeing how long Miss L will be so excited that she has her new math book that she runs to get it when I say it is time to do math.
- I look forward to seeing how we can work both Reading and Spelling into our day. We have learned that one after the other does not work for either of them. They get just too fidgety and too silly or today in Miss C’s case just too tired.
- Little Miss F wants her own school too, so I will have to look through the books that were in The Ultimate Homemaking e-Bundle that I purchased at almost the last minute and decide what might help us there.
Things are falling in place at home to for the repairs we need to have done this summer (a roof) and I’m hoping and praying we can schedule it all and I can not lose my mind.
Oh wait, I have already. 🙂
